Jordan Skaggs: Why I Blog

Contributed by Jordan Skaggs,
September Blogger of the Month.

My blog was first started because I kept telling my husband “I really want to start a blog but I don’t know what I could write about!” and “I really want to start cooking more!”

His answer of course was “Start a cooking blog.” Sometimes it’s funny how we can’t see the thing right in front of our face until someone else points it out.

So my blog was started as a way to document my cooking adventures and new recipes I tried and liked. I didn’t really know what I was doing and didn’t have any real direction. I was just testing the waters to see if I would even keep up with my blog. Since then I started creating my own recipes and got into a consistent posting routine.

Sometimes blogging has been easy. Sometimes it’s been hard or frustrating but there’s just something about the process I fell in love with as I started to own my blog and the direction I wanted it to go.

Blogging requires you to use many different skills. There’s photography, writing, editing, planning, and sharing on social media. Plus, I’m still very much learning to cook, develop recipes, and do the techy stuff.

I love that there is always something new to learn in each of these areas. I love that blogging allows you to connect with so many people virtually and sometimes even in person. I love that I get to share my creativity with the world through recipes and inspire people to cook and try new meals.

I could go on but the simple answer is — I blog because it brings me a lot of joy. It’s a learning process and adventure I find so fun to experience and I’m excited to see where my blog journey takes me.

Now I’d love to hear from you – Why did you start your blog? What do you love most about it? Share your answer in the comments!
